Shattered Grace

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

My apologies for my untimely absence, but for the last few days, the flu bug has made me pay...In fact, this is the first time, I have even been able to see straight.

Shattered grace hung loose and in shreds upon my broken limbs,

as myriads of afflictions troops trespassed at their own whim.

Attacking on all sides… this time they assault both my body and mind,

Ripping and tearing with sharp gnashing teeth, the fabric of grace intertwined.

Bruised and confused, I crawl forth from atop of this inhumanities heap,

And with my eyes cast towards the heavens, I pray that grace once again to weave.

For without its protection, I am open to the world of evils gross infection.

which assail my very soul, through the gaping holes of my shattered grace worn.

So send forth this day I pray,

the angelic tailors, my way.

that they may repair the remaining shards

of my Grace intertwined.

Allen, that flubug is a nasty little vile creature! Glad to see you out and about!
I see it didn't affect your ability to write though, but then talent is talent no matter what tries to infect you. Well done! Lisa

Welcome back and I hope you are feeling much better. Another poem that hits close to my heart. Reminds me of the constant battle my immune system has with my body.. and the cry I've cried many days. Fortunately, those cries are heard ;-)
