One day I wrote a poem.
I called it THIS AND THAT.
I sent it to my publisher
And here's what I got back.

"You must be a beginner;
There's a rule you need to learn
If you wish to become published
And be read by everyone.

So please omit the usage
Of the terrible pronoun, 'that.'
Then return your manuscript
In the proper format."

Wishing to meet my schedule,
Hoping to cut the fat,
I used my word processor
To remove the use of "that."

I was now left with a poem,
Its new title is THIS...
It makes no sense when reading it
If I leave it as it is.

I sent it to my publisher,
With crossed fingers and toes.
One wonders, will they publish now?
But, heaven only knows.

Today I got a letter
And this is how it rendered,
"We gladly accept your poem
Now that the grammar's mended."
