It was at twilight as I sat
on a fibre glass bench near the bandstand on the sea wall in
Georgetown looking out at the trawlers going out to the muddy Atlantic
On my left the brassy sun was sinking fast
behind the trees over the Demerara River.painting the western sky a
brilliant orange hue.
A soft north eastern breeze had suddenly sprung up
and caressed my cheeks as I inhaled the strengthing wind
deep into my lungs
Nearby a lonely chicken hawk perched on a stump sticking out of the
sea side mud as a pair of swallows swooped down at him in torment
After a while he gave a loud caw and spread his wings in flight to a
nearby coconut tree away from his tormentorswho then swooped away
out of sight
Folks began leaving the froth bitten beach as night was drawing nigh.
I got up ,got into my car and headed for home feeling refreshed
after spending some time on the seawall.
