Guyana ! Guyana !
My Beloved Guyana, Land of the free,
Land of six peoples, every day I think of thee
With your pristine Rain Forest
Of magnificent flora and fauna for all to see
A Paradise regained in every way to me
The Majestic Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls
Roaring to the sea
The sakiwinki monkeys
Swinging freely from tree to tree
The giant Harpy Eagle with it’s outstretch wings
Soaring in the sky
The blue /yellow Macaws
Picking at ripened papaw by and by
The red billed Toucans cawing in nearby trees
As Orchids, lilies, and “jump up and kiss” flowers
Covered the jungle floor amidst the leaves
The wide whiskered “water dogs “ romping
In the stream with ear piercing squeals
As the sharp eyed jaguar watched hopefully
thinking of meals
Yes, my beloved Guyana,
Land of the free
I sometimes miss seeing the Caimans,
Electric Eel and the Kisskadee
