The Beetle
I hold in my hand
The shell of a giant black beetle
That once was alive and now
Is dead
Once seeking food,warmth and shelter
As we do
Once enjoying the sunlight
And breathing the same air
As we do
Once seeking a mate
As we do
Procreating
As we do
Seeking pleasure
Avoiding pain
As we do
And now is no more
As we one day
Shall be
Are we so much different ?
So I think ,while we can ,we should cultivate a reverence
for life-all life, for we are more inter-connected
than we think !
