Written when I was working for The Scooter Store in New Braunfels, Tx, before I got laid off, thankfully before the FBI raid.

Here it is Monday

And back to work I go

Got more changes in procedure

What do you know.

If we don't get it

It will be a sin

Cause then we will have

To start all over again.

Tuesday will be meeting day

To tell us what to think

Lord, help me get through it

Naw, just get me a drink.

Wednesday is that middle day

And someone plans a lunch

So home I go not to rest,

But to cook for another damn brunch.

Thursday arrives

And coming down the hall

Is that witch to avoid

But my name she will call.

Did you bring your dish?

She always asks

And I hold it up

To reveal the task.

And now it is Friday

Hope comes at last.

Mental health day

We're having a blast.

Here it is the weekend

How the time has passed.

I should mow my lawn

It's up to my ass.

When the weekend if over

I'll go back to work

That is if I'm not

COMPLETELY BESERK!

You have spiced up an otherwise mundane subject. Who wants to go to work? Can I get a show of hands? Anybody??? M.True

I am sure that many can relate, Lark. Nicely done. Love and best wishes to you,

The daily grind sounds really bad, but, I myself do a job which I don't mind doing. Fortunately I've always been fortunate. Most of my work life was as a deckhand. I'd still be doing that if my body could keep up. But the replacement job is just as good. So even though I didn't have the same work experience, I can still empathize, because I occasionally have to work in a warehouse when my driving job slows down. That's pretty slow. The FBI raid sounds interesting. Too bad you didn't see that. Sounds like great entertainment. Humorous. Bob

You have beautifully described the daily fate of most of the working people of the country. Wonder what Studs Terkel would make of that kind of working.

Let me guess… The good old Scooter Store was dealing in high-volume wheelchair and scooters for everyone and his brother whether qualified or not and billing Medicare and Medicaid like crazy. A few bucks for everyone involved except for little working folks like you.

Plenty of work side humor in this, Lark, and I loved it. You spoke for so many people who labor in an unfriendly atmosphere, which I fear is more common these days than it was even when you wrote this poem. The FBI raid?
