I don’t know how to explain to you that there are moments
when even breathing becomes an act of awareness;
when everything, each thing, inside, outside of me, becomes
one single, whole act of separate, heightened perceptions, all
relevant and non-detachable in their detachability.
I don’t know how to bring you into this mutable, living picture,
to which you are, nonetheless, intrinsic, because, yes, you
live here with the essentiality and essence of life itself.
I don’t know how to emerge from my view and pour into yours
beyond eyes that broke the levees of tears and yet hold sadness
to levels of drowning behind eyelids too congested for words, but
not for reflections of sun, of wonders, of clearly defined and
unambiguously celebrated joys.
I don’t know how the heart, beating, the dandelions, jutting out
like certainties of spring, among fears like frosted blades of grass,
the dogs, sensed as simply and peacefully restless, and this restlessness
of serenely aching for simple peace, are, at once, sketchy portions
of me, and yet the only consummate auto-portrait that I, in all this
inconstancy of a work in constant progress, can share with you;
And I know that I want to; but, beyond love, this act of awareness
with its own knowledge that only the inexpressible imparts, I don’t know,
I don’t know how.
Potant Points to ponder. You have succeeded as a poet because you have touched each peraon who reads this and brought made them feel.
Great write.
