Our Last Home on Earth

My dear sister and I found ourselves alone at about the same time when our spouses departed this earth for eternal rest Above. We had no other siblings so we joined ranks and shared my home until age and disabilities forced us to relocate near our children for support. They found a wonderful place for us at the Waterford on Huebner in San Antonio, Texas, where we now reside.

OUR LAST HOME ON EARTH

 (Jim and Marge are here to stay)

 

Flashback to when we first became a sibling act

You lost your Joe and I my Jodie, both so dear

We had to face the lonely life without them," fact"

 We knew that growing old would be our greatest fear

 

Then God imposed upon our minds this plan to be

Our only way to face this life and remain sane

We knew that soon decisions must be made so we

Embarked upon this way that we could ease the pain

 

Advancing years and failing health made it so clear

That we could not continue in this way for long

I broke my hip and her heart showed the signs of wear

We knew our lives must merge so we could remain strong

 

God led the way to this retirement home so nice

We now enjoy the company of friends so grand

We share our memories of how we paid the price

And now we wait before our Lord at last to stand

 

Dear Waterford we owe you thanks and gratitude

My Sis and I are happy as we share our thanks

Among the aging Angels that sustain our mood

Of  our happiness together in these loving ranks

This and other of your poems just make me say "Awwww" inside. You will be a blessing in Waterford, a blessing that's sorely needed by residents who have no one to care.

Knowing the entire story and the trials you two went through, I am so pleased that you are now settled at the Waterford, have friends, a church.
