If you haven't read George Orwell's "1984", allow me to recommend it. It was brilliant then, has stood the test of time and is especially relevant now.

(Poem also known as 'Big Brother's New Name.')

Poem Artwork

Orwell decreed, in the year forty eight
A collectivist society that we all would hate
Government surveillance, incessant control
Life without freedom, death our parole
Subordinate mind set oppressed from afar
A System that monitors where we all are
It knows where we're living, how we spend every day
Observes our activities, should we go astray
Knows all our relations, acquaintances too
Sees what we look like and all that we do

Sadly, George Orwell was entirely correct
We should have been wary and more circumspect
For whilst we rejoice in new technology
And marvel at all of the things we can see
Did nobody notice the gathering doom?
That grew into an elephant right there in the room
Millions of people all trapped in its sights
Happily recording their wrongs and their rights
Because I bet you would see (to its utter disgrace)
That Big Brother's disguised as a book with a face

Did nobody wonder why our details are crucial

To leisurely using an internet social

They gather your info and build up a file

Whilst you type and chatter, naive, all the while

So that all that you say there and all that you do

Is logged in a record that’s all about you

Yes, George was quite right and he warned us quite clearly

Big Brother is watching our lifestyle sincerely

Brain-washed and happy we all swallow the pill

But one day we’ll learn that we gave up free will.

We, the transitional generation, have seen things that our grandparents, even parents could never have imagined in the course of their lifetimes. And yet the world does not skip a beat. Regardless of the mazes that we humans put ourselves through, we adapt like the rats. How the next generation will treat their children's children is anybody's guess. Good write! M.True

If that is the case, then I guess we, up to this point, have been well documented, as i have been a computerphile for so long that to fight off the addiction would take a great deal of internal pain...if free will i did give up, then so be it, let Big brother take me away & lock me in a cell or just leave me where I already be,
locked away till my death day...(enjoyed this write very much) Ed
