In shadowed face of grief
Masked, concealed from view
The sharp recall of what might have been
Lost, in blackened shroud
A cloud,
Through which faith can’t be seen
Each day bestows
A battle, a myriad of emotion
Stare into the abyss, the pit of despair
The smile wears thin
So I begin
My self-supporting prayer
My very core sends out
A signal, a message to my mind
Stop! Don’t think! You can’t afford to dwell
Dig deep inside –
Until you find
That small reserve, your mission bell
Unclench the fist
Regain the calm, the poise
Breathe deep and lift your head
Compose your mind
Unwind
Radiate serenity instead.
Panic not, mes amis, a friend’s father just died and I was wondering how I could impart my own method of dealing with grief, which has served me so well.

That small reserve, your mission bell.
