To the dependable greys and envious greens

There were those who wanted to know her

Possess her, stake ownership on her

While others wanted to ‘be’ her

Steal her unique, vibrant charm

Dampen her wings and dim her light

With tattered wings and colours mute

Flutter on did she, until… Oh sumptuous haven!

Graceful tapers of splendid purple hue

Inviting her to display her elite beauty

In glorious summer haze.
