Fragments of time, long departed

A life passed by...trailing a web of tarnished memories, that merely drifts on the breeze

Taunting...

While the lingering trace of voices resonates from before

...amid fading

Goats, bleating in the orchard

A Collie’s bark

The gentle cluck of hens and echoes of a bygone rooster, now faint in the morning mist

Wind, whistling through a now empty barn, remembering the bustle of the past

Each swirls in ethereal phases around a lone figure, lost in the pain of what would never be... but yet to see new expectation.

Pale and grey, barely discernible amongst the shadows of what once was, the soul mourns an unrequited love

A passionate love,  deep and sincere but which would never bear joy

Hope and Faith left no trails in the dirt

Only Despair was willing to remain in such darkness

As, awaiting the dawn of a new day, Solitude drifts aimlessly

Its dank, rotting essence seeps into every crevice of being and taints the air

Musty

Clinging

Cold

Somewhere beyond Mudland’s clammy boundaries
Far off battles of magnitude and force
Laced with lies and deception
Only strengthen the barriers in which there is no aperture

Further demise is a necessity ...but of what.

A mournful call from looking back at what has been and cannot be changed. So sad to think that circumstances didn't go the way one thought. Something that happens way too often in people's lives. May you rise from this swamp of despair and write loving tales of promise once again.

Words and music find their place even in times of sadness when emotions are raw and vulnerable. It is a time when nature seems to be out of synch with our needs. But healing must begin, and few know that as well as the sensitive soul who feels the most pain. “I feel your pain” is such a trite and worn expression. It does little to the majesty of your own words, told with exquisite calm but revealing so much more. You will likely visit them again and again, and well you should. Your words rip and tear against the unknown. They tell us more than your sadness. They tell us how we are all connected, and so much better than the stale cries of clerics.
