Poem Artwork

Not dense am I, nor dim of wit

My mind is open to peruse

No slave am I to "set in stone"

Nor am I blinkered, caught in ruse

No falsehoods shall be heard unchecked

No crass deceit shall cage my brain

Nor will I bow in servitude

...to let the liars lie again

Bygone voices call through time

"Beware the ides of march", is one

"Beware the wolves in clothes of sheep"

"Beware the words of double speak"

"Beware the jabberwock my son"

No!

Fabrication shall not reign

...deceiving all within its path

Tearing down all faith and trust

...and turning love to hate and wrath

... blinding via crooked speech

...staging stand-offs whilst [they] preach

...blaming us for all [they] breach

NO!

Greed and cruelty cannot rule

nor set the innocent to task

...disparaging all that is good

...while choking on deceiver's masq

querade ...bewitched by deviant chant

...then pray for breath...but find they can't

...bereft of rational confidante

YET!

Once the tide is turned anew

...and souls awaken to the c'laws

No more shall programmed discontent

...be fodder to such hungry jaws

New Dawn will be a different shade

Its light, no longer tinted grey

Its skies no longer laced with lead

Earth's hearts no longer filled with dread

Her children safely forge ahead

Let darkness swiftly fade......

An intriguing piece (with a classic feel) that allows the reader more than one determination. For me: I see someone finally breaking free from a long struggle (mental and emotional) that has kept them in chains for far too long. Enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. rlc

What a masterful poem! That shows so much the right way to go. Now I know why I missed your posting while you were gone.

Your words relay a wonderful feeling of the truly "free" humans. The one's who think for themselves and cannot be contained............YES! Fascinating writing!!!

Love ya!

For me, this has a "classic" poetic tone... ...and there is much to ponder upon as one reads your verses. Well done, Ruan. Love, peace, and best wishes,

Regis. 🌺🌼🌳🍁

So many ways your readers such as I could interpret this wonderful determination to treat baggage as baggage and not feel the burden of dragging it behind. Well done, Ruan.
