My teacher taught that poetry was hard work
to write words with ease, was a work of art,
achieved only by years of toil and sweat,
before you can say you made your mark
" Cross your T's--dot your i's
this is what you must do,
don't forget your commas as well,
it'll help the poet inside of you
Think in metaphors that will
turn the ear into an eye,
squeeze out depth in each word,
that makes a reader go " Sigh "
Speak of Love far away
or as close as a Lover's Kiss,
if you fail to write this way
your poem others will not miss "
" Who said that?-Let My muse Speak!"
be the poet you should be?
Poetry is serious all the time
its the only way to creativity! "
"Revise revise-do it over and over again
no such thing as a Muse if you must know,
poetry is an exercise for the mind.
foolish to talk about an inner soul"
Yet, as I left that poetry class
in the old high school that day,
I felt a Muse walk beside me,
as I walked along the way
She put her soft fingers in my hair
in the school where I felt out of place,
she kissed my mouth with her sweet words
" Someday we'll meet face to face"
Interesting as well, although for my thought
all inspiration comes from within our soul and
through the windows of our eyes to paper...
you either have a gift or you do not for expression...
