Borne upon a summer's fragrant breeze,
a murmur, brushing soft against my face—
life's calling to itself from sky to trees
is choosing for its own, this time and place.
For somehow here, beneath the season's sun,
that baptizes my head with golden flame,
a fire in my soul has just begun,
igniting from the tinder of your name.
My wonder floats a question on the wind
that whispers secrets through the shifting leaves—
will summer bloom with passion, or rescind
a pledge that through this lovers' story weaves?
Bright blossoms sway and nod their full assent,
for they've been told the way this story goes—
when autumn comes, with summer's glory spent,
will twisting vines of love beget a rose?
