This poem is a descriptive and reflective. It reveals the thought and the make up of loneliness. It is one of the poems in the reflection of my heart collections
Men don't cry, so we were taught.
An emotional man is a weakling,
So they say.
But what can be said of a lonely man?!
The world swirls by him unnoticed,
his heart is empty, void and hopeless.
He may be the world's strongest man
but inwardly he is the world's smallest man.
Women are often derided and down trodden by men,
but they are the round pegs for our hearts.
Their arm around us reminds us of our mothers.
Their bosom soothes our pains.
Their heart is like the bottomless ocean,
It stores our secrets and most cherished memories.
When women are absent our sunshine is gone.
Nothing crushes our heart like their departure.
We thought we had a strong will and emotion,
Until we lived alone,
Male friends were just pilgrims,
Transiting to their holy land.
Once they are gone, Life returns to square one.
Our shared passions seem to linger.
But when our minds device a solution to this feeling,
It spirals towards a woman for comfort.
Lonely nights,
Lonely thoughts,
No matter how busy we became;
At rest, loneliness returns.
We need someone to love,
Someone we can share our lives with;
Someone to share our joy, pain, gain and loss.
Our soul mate under the sun!
Under the blueberry tree,
We visualize our damsel fair and angelic,
As the wind caresses our skin,
her whispers of love and charm run through our brow.
We feel her when the snow falls,
We laugh with her when we strike some success,
We scream with her when ecstasy overcomes our being;
But when we open our eyes, there was no one there.
Hot tears roll down our chicks,
Joy turns to sorrow,
We become speechless,
Loneliness crushes our soul.
We sit in front of the fire place,
Memories of family and friends go through our minds.
We weep profusely and hard....
If only we had a partner to share our lives with.
We tuck ourselves in at night,
Squeezing the pillow to our bosom
Wrapping my legs around it.....
HM!!!...That’s just the life of a lonely man.
