I better read the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis;
the devil has become my persistent and worst nemesis.
Whenever I pray he comes in like a storm;
always uniform, he strives to misinform.
It never fails, I set aside the time;
my mind wanders, not ignorant of his design.
Even when my cares are few, his suggestions are without number;
oh that ugly scoundrel, he would prefer that I should slumber.
He lies to me, says get my shoes and sox on;
shorten my prayer time, get to the sine qua non.
Clean those ears, that just can't wait;
got ya in my power, I will always infiltrate.
Oh that baseball game, it will be on soon;
you can meditate later, enjoy a macaroon.
Just enjoy your life, why put pleasure on hold;
I'll leave ya alone, just wear my blindfold.
I better reread the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis;
the devil has become my persistent and worst nemesis.
Many years ago I sought out his deceptive technique;
he pursues me still, he is certainly the master freak.
