A Dry Cornstalk

A couplet poem about behaviors.

When I went for my morning walk;

there you were, like a dry cornstalk.

Why did you flip your cig on the ground;

is your psyche like a spinning merry-go-round?

Didn't you realize that those leaves were quite dry;

perhaps your common sense really needs to intensify.

You stood there in a hoodie with just your sox on;

can't see your face, not even one micron.

The person you were talking with had nothing but trouble;

you too, and I see you may eventually burst your bubble.

Your lifestyle could use a change, don't ya think;

ya better make a change or else you just may turn pink.

When you see the world through the personified truth;

then you're really green, never again to be uncouth.

A trouble-free life never comes by your own insight;

life is what you make it, retrieve your original birthright.

When I went for my morning walk;

there you were, like a dry cornstalk.

When you've finally been on both sides of the fence;

seen the light, then no need for any pretense.

Youth tend to be rebellious. Often, to their own detriment. Fortunately, in a police station when I was seven, "I saw the light "and realized that I had to take charge of my life and not just be like all the others because they were "cool."

You provided a good lesson here. Unfortunately, these young kids are into rap and not into poetry by old codgers.
