She comes from Rodeo drive she's a babe bent on the starve
skipping school with a slip that serves her the right to leave
a park bench cradles her bony butt
she peels a banana and tries to eat
STOP! she hears as she reconsiders,
maybe she isn't thin enough maybe she needs to purge?
He sidles along with a chill against his collar bone
thin as a rail he eats only crumbs from a dumpster
the park bench is a bed for his head
a reprieve from the boisterous bunch
HELLO! he says, but her eyes are stones
maybe she'll share maybe she'll give me a bite ?
Life is such that we can't always do what the soul asks us to
Life is a turntable with grooves that repeat us til' we go blue
A robin lands on the bench and gives out a little frozen tweet
She hands him a chunk of banana , suddenly their eyes meet.

An enjoyable read. Loved how you brought everything together in your last stanza. They started out strangers, now I wonder where they go from here. A part 2 maybe?
A sweet little poem about sharing at Christmas. But I'm left with a conundrum of knowing whether that was a homeless person on the bench, or just the wayward robin whose eyes met hers.
On another twist, he could easily snatch the robin with one quick grab. And then, not waiting on ceremony, eat the bird, feathers and bones and all like a cat, spitting out the feathers.
Feeding the birds is something my wife and I do daily. Of course, Lucy, our cat, gets a bit rankled with us when we do and wants to pounce on them. And though we never let her; it's always fun to watch her puff up, crouch down, and twitch excitedly. "a park bench cradles her bony butt", that image cracked me up, V. Your last sentence sums up an aspect of altruism nicely. A good deed rarely goes unnoticed. Enjoyed this. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. You and yours. Peace... r
Sometimes alien individuals come together in unexpected ways. There is no accounting for what can happen to people in the world. A rough beginning, a tender ending.
