If I close my eyes I can almost smell the flowers
buttoning into summer with a vibrant petal stir
Walking through the lane I own a sweet review
of all the roses that once hugged my fence
A little squirrel skitters through a leafy tree
skirting in the distance like a flying superman
The sound of children 's laughter in the sun
its a magnet to my ear, I'm lawning once again
The tea is served in mugs, of goofy decalettes
beneath a parasol umbrella green and white
The hours melt away like a season's peep show
I need not memorize, this momentary glow
for I know each year, that winter door will close
and spring will reappear, like an iris in my rose .
A BEAUTIFUL SHARING, INDEED. I WAS BORN IN THE TEMPERATE ZONE, SO GLAD THAT I WAS. IT'S CHANGES REMINDS ME OF THE SEASONS OF LIFE...HOW GOD CHANGES SITUATIONS AND WE PROGRESS ON. SO ENJOYED, MYSTIC, THANK YOU. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
A beautifully penned reminiscence of summers' last in the dead of winter. It seems so remarkable that every year that fabulous time occurs with everything's so alive, and then, winter presents a landscape so dead that it is a wonder that squirrels and birds still seem to be able to scratch out a living in this cold white desolation.
. . . And what a glorious season it is, especially coming on the heels of a deadly winter with its freezing, endless cold. Love the touch of the squirrel.
