"Dedicated To Our Front Line Heroes"

A child stood valorous before a door with nary a tinge of fear or dread.
Armed with a spatula a pancake flipper and a stewing pot upon her head
Hands protected by leather gloves & Father's boots to guard her feet
Swimming goggles securely placed, beneath her shirt, a cookie sheet
With a determined sigh she cracked the door, peered suspiciously into the night
She thought mayhap the coming battle was best done in a bask of morning light
But time was short and with each passing hour, others would surely die.
So she began her journey to confront this beast who had made her Grandma cry;
She made her way through wretched gloom , giving thought to parental fear
She had never seen them so full of doubt, in all her seven years.
But the time had come to join the fight to aid those, who gave protection.
She was well aware of the woeful lair still she would fight this damn infection
A nurse stood wavering in a vengeful night, another dozen deaths had left her cold
but then she heard a voice so free of fear it brought a peaceful solace to her soul
'I wonder if you'd be so kind to take a moment, & give me direction," said the child
I am stout and brave with pluck and daring, I can help defeat this cursed virus
The nurse's eyes welled up at such a sight and a smile reached across her face.
By her side stood a little girl who was willing to defend the human race,
and so remember this, when all is lost and the best of us lose heart,
an unsung hero will rise to give us hope and spur us on, to do our part.

A wonderful story poem honoring those who are at the forefront of the fight against Coronavirus. And usually the little girl as an example of an innocent approach towards fighting the virus is priceless. Kudos, David

My wife works as a custodian at our local hospital. Her job now is to make sure every thing is wiped down and disinfected. She may not be on the front line, but she's still a hero.

This narrative poem brought a few tears to my eyes for the nobility and strength of its message and its heart-felt impact. Simply superb.

Wow! What a great poem, and lesson, a lift and a gift--right when it is needed. David must be your son...
