You have described the shared life of a couple who have grown together through many stages of their love creating a life unto itself. Like my parents', sometimes a bit stormy, 62 years together that could have been much longer had not a virus in a hospital turned a successful operation into a four month ordeal with my mother by his side almost every day.
I've not known that kind of love until recently, for 30 years. She reminds me, every day, when she says, "Sing for me." Often, her beautiful voice sings harmony with me.
