Daily I creep into this treasury
of such wondrous expressions of thought. Absconding out just as stealthily
after feasting on the verses here wrought.
Unable to quell my need for these words
by artists of such notable talent. That i steal here whenever time affords
and secretlyapplaud without a hint.
Would that i could but say words half as well
or simply stay away without the need. But alas i can't, so i"ll read my fill
and steal these words of verse to feed my greed.
Great write Budd, and thanks for sharing with us here in the Den.
As far as I know, every worthwhile writer has emulated other great writers before him/her,as with any other art form. We may borrow words from here or there, but we lay them on the page in our unique way.

Awww I know the feeling. But you know they say that reading makes a good writer better. Keep reading, and keep writing, because you must..just as a bird must sing.
Looking at these words you write,
You state you read for your insight.
Unbeknownst to you we love your write,
Stay on the path it gives us sight.
Don't stay so long from authorsden,
We love you and need you my dear friend!
GREAT poetic thoughts that are both true and overdue! One of the best professors in the USA wrote a book about teaching students. His first rule is to beg, borrow and steal anything worthwhile that will help you to make it throughout the year. Now you know that people do, but don't have the guts to admit it. I usually thank the person for the ideas they give me but I seldom ask permission from them unless it's a direct quote. If that is stealing then I am going to hell man!!

- Wordsmithing to compete with the Masters, Budd! I know EXACTLY how you feel and my study, stuffed with books read and unread, is my delight. Excellent. xx
....soooooo good to "hear" you back, Budd and...to know
that you..."creep into this treasury of such wondrous
expressions of thoughts"...Don't think you "steal the words"
...just creating your own imagery...onto your readers mind.
You capture in your poetic lines and stanzas...the fleeting
moment...evoking...ad hoc...an experience of your own imagination
and personal feeling...catering to readers senses...
Each line of your poem...forms words-image-collage and
the feel...all images are equally important...immortal
and static like a paint. You can "steal these words"
but you never steal the idea of individual elements
arranged in poets-specific way...to express/deliver/
inform/interpret...
In this sense, it is like...en Plein Air weekend painting
where...7-10 artists are looking at the same landscape
and producing an individual master-piece...no two oils
the same...true creation...
Thank you Budd.
Many Blessings!
Ah hah! So you're the one stealing my verse so that I can't write it when I sit down to do it. I think I'll steal a few of these words to get even. ;-)
HaH! Budd, steal away from whatever and whoever. But quit putting yourself down, my friend. You are a talented wordsmith. You betcha!! So great that you have come back.
I suppose it should be said as you just did that most of our poems and thoughts are triggered by others who have used certain words that inspire our own. They are like objects hidden in a picture that one must discover yet they are words of inspiration and thought for those who write them in yet another version.
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
