Well my kids have spared me the stigma of Grandadhood so far (I can still pretent I'm 43), but I think you captured the emotions very well here, especially the feeling of continuity that is so reassuring to those of us moving towards "elder" status.
In fact you make the whole think seem a lot more appealing.
