Desperate to get out
of your luxury accommodations.
Wishing for Bridge Club days
and youth.
The ones who remain
from those 1940s days
carry their canes and attend
fine luncheons.
They laugh and eat and talk.
You anticipate, look forward with pleasure
to the monthly outings.
So we ride in the limousine
to the country club.
I see precious “other mothers”
who participated in my raising.
You are reminded of what is no more.
On the ride back, you talk bad about
your old best friends.
You want Daddy back and you cry.
You cry and just like every other time,
you say you’ll never go back.
But you will.
You will go back
and I will not.
I’ll call the limo to take
me to Wal-Mart.
Material wealth and comforts are of little use to a mind that is in mortal anguish and "locked" into cycles of pain. Only God can bring relief and peace to thoughts that perpetually walk out the agony in circles, Janet. This is a haunting and frustrating situation and you have delivered the power of it graphically. Love and prayers with you. Kate xx Feeling with you in this most traumatic and knife-edge time of our lives. Bless you. xx
Well, I know where this one comes from and I know how mother's misery has somewhat become your own.....It's a shame you have to go through this over and over and over. The limo to Wal-Mart and sidestepping being with her on those occasions sounds like exactly what I would be doing if I were in your shoes.
Wow this is a heavy hearted poem for sure, your mother living in a bygone era and you rejecting it. Me as a limo driver would love to have you in my car some day Janet for a long leisurely chat about the odl days and the new.
Words were never more true than in this offering, to which we can all relate - well -er ah - except for that limo stuff. We've been there... or we are about to be! Love it for what it is; Truth! - Bill
The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
A wicked Cajun Fairy named Robes Pierre entered the impenetrable Magical doll land of Sha Bebe. Queen Faustina, the ruler of the doll land, thought she had destroyed him, but he's back! Will the doll land survive his evil ways?
Well stated perspective,
Felix
