sun shines beneath a chill
in my bones giving momentary relief.
Flowers froze overnight
along with my obstructed
anticipation of things future.

I stoop to pick up a piece of paper.
Pain penetrates as I ascend
and discover a faded representation
of me at thirty.
No longer young and agile.

But not incapacitated either.
I can fly away with my love
and be greeted by sticky hands
and runny noses.

Sun is shinning into a chill in my bones,
seeping into my aches and complaints.
Sun takes away the obstruction
and gives me anticipation

I do love the symbol of the sun as I see it as a beacon of hope inserted within the thoughts and emotions expressed in your poem, Janet. Thank you. Love and peace,

Regis

Janet, I can relate so well to this piece. I understand and feel the emotions therein. In this you state…

”I stoop to pick up a piece of paper.
Pain penetrates as I ascend
and discover a faded representation
of me at thirty.
No longer young and agile.”

This statement carries such power with it…though our bodies age and things start to break, our hearts and spirits are forever young and do not age. I have seen the eyes of 85 year old women light up when handed a doll…something that reminded them of their youth…I watched as the spirit shone forth in its youth…though the body had begun to fade. Someday we will have a new body that will bring no sorrow. Look up and behold the day that cometh and rejoice.

The healing heat of the sun....it does feel good on the old bones and unlike the rainy day, the sunny one feels like "hope". Well written Janet!

Well, if this isn't a goodie, Janet. Very well done, very well thought out. Outstanding.

I'll be among the first to say how wonderfully warm and revealing your words reach the reader. Well crafted to appeal to he hardest heart, but then again, we don't tolerate that kind around here.
Maravelous build up into a satisfying conclusion. - Bill
