Phone Call

Could the first call have merely been a bad connection?

One creepy night while sitting here
In bedroom all alone
The silence broken by the ringing
Ringing of the phone

It seemed there was no voice at all
Upon the other end
Just one soft sigh a gentle soft sigh
Strange messsage to send

I said hello hello again
Still no voice answered back
Not e'n the sigh I heard before when
Conversation lacked

I put the phone down by my side
Holding onto it still
Finally my hand hung it back up
Taking all my will

The phone rang once again so I
Picked it up one more time
A cheery voice this time thank goodness
Said, "Will you be mine?"

What started a little creepy turned out to be a romantic phone call. It makes me always happy too to hear my love on the other side of the phone

Oh I hate those breathy phone calls! By listening you are tempting fate. In the case of the poem, fate was never too late.

PS. It's good to get a loud air horn, and blast it into the receiver the next time you get a “dead” call.

I hear that family members that have passed sometimes use phones to hear someones voice one more time...but glad yours was not that...e
