A Question for my Den Friends

Seem to be sick today, asking for advice...

A Question for my Den Friends…

I seem to have a temperature,

Only up about 2 degrees, but still,

If my friends out there in the Den land,

Would help me out, maybe I can beat these chills…

It’s been since 1999 since last I was sick, even a cold,

Last night I awoke with my teeth chattering,

My body angry at me, sleeping with the windows open, it did scold,

First I was cold then I was hot, like my internal gauge out of whack,

I was all ready to turn on my air conditioning when I was hot,

And sleep under the electric blanket when I was cold…

I guess my question here would be what can I do?

I have not been sick like this in so long, I have no experience,

I took Tylenol for the fever, and drinking fluids, soda & water,

Guess there is not much more I can do, if you have any advice,

I would be greatly appreciative; yes you are all usually so nice…

Ed, I literally feel your pain. I've been sick and running a fever all weekend long. I guess I didn't help matters why walking probably over 10 miles yesterday and today. It's over 80 degrees here this weekend and today the wind is blowing over 40 MPH. Yesterday my fever was 100.5; today it was 100 degrees when I took it. I think all that wind has stirred something up because now I'm extremely congested and full of gooey snot. I went to the doctor Friday, but he told me to drink plenty of liquids, take Tylenol for the fever, and gargle with salt water for my sore throat. The only part of his advice I took was to drink plenty of liquids, and probably the only reason I did that was because I've walked so much and it's so warm that naturally I'm very thirsty. I've pretty much lost my appetite, so maybe between all the walking and the fact I'm not hungry, I'll lose some weight. No pain, no gain--or in this case, no loss.

I must agree with both Katy and Floria here...
Get some antibiotics...and get back in bed!
You need your strength to compose more poems!

Ed please see a doctor...I believe you need some
antibiotics...my doctor told me infections never
go away by themselves..they just go to other places
in the body...you may have a flu or virus or infection
..you mentioned sinus problems the other day...usually
allergy seasons bring on sinus infections..in which case
you would need medications...drink a lot of fluid in the
meantime..let us know how you are...floria

First, my sad, sick pal.. STOP posting poetry and GET BACK IN THAT BED! Sigh.. sorry, didn't mean to yell. (smile) I'm a firm believer in open windows.. you're hot/cold is internal and the fresh air is good for you. Water, water, water... lots of it, BUT, in small sips, if you're, ahem, unwell on the 'bottom end'.. xox. NO dairy foods! None. No charge. Seeing you feeling better will be payment enough. (BIG smile). Take good care and DON'T READ THIS! I said GET BACK IN THAT BED! hehe.. katy xox. p.s. just looked at Lisa's comments.. she's very right.. chicken soup is marvelous.. a proven fact. John has a point, too.. were you bitten by anything NOT carrying love and affection for you? (wink). quack.. quack.. byex

You need things like gatorade, soda isn't good for you..alternate tylenol and advil or ibuprofen for the fever and aches.
And ofcourse find you some hot chicken soup..not at all sure it really helps anything except your feelings..but it always seems to make you sleep better!
Hope you get to feeling better soon! Lisa

Wish I could help, Ed. Seems with me, these things just have to run their course, and eventually, they just disappear - when they are good and ready.
