Mom's & Son's

Even now, I have a hard time dredging up tears for my moms passing, read on and maybe learn something, can't hurt...

Mom’s & Son’s…

Treat your son’s like they are kings,

Give them what they want, yes everything,

Make them feel they can do no wrong,

No one is better, no better can they get,

Tell them they are the best, yes so strong,

Make them say they love you, use guilt to do so…

And I am sorry to say, your sons will grow up like me,

Not really being happy to be around their moms,

Nor liking her too much, where even friends don’t go near her,

The worst kind of mom anyone can have, is one that is too overbearing,

She may feel she did the best, but cannot take criticism,

So learn from my mom’s mistakes, all you moms out there,

Mine passed last June; even for her funeral I was late…

Be overbearing, but don’t bear down too much,

Be over loving, but don’t show it too much, he will know,

Your son is not property; he has a life of his own,

If you heed nothing else, please do this that I have shown…

I wish I could have loved my mom, as others do, I have seen,

But it was not to be, not in this life, no it was not to have been,

We seemed to be vying for attention,

Both of us from an under attentive, under bearing father/husband,

What it did to both our relationships with him, is for another time,

But for now, realize, if you are somewhere reading this mom,

That I wish for us to have had the same love for each other,

That I saw other kids/friend/relatives have for their mom, but…

I lost my mother 14 years past, and I still grieve and hurt over her; but as time goes on, the pain lessens; but as you said, the pain never goes completely away! Sure it may be hard if she was hard on you or was always on your case, but she only did it because she cared enough for you and loved you. Sure it was a funny way of showing it, but it took me until after the death of my own mother when I realized just how much my mom loved and cared for me, even though she was a witch at times and often was sick with her damned diabetes; it was her diabetes that made her cross so often! She didn't feel good, and she took her anger and frustration out on us kids. But she more than made up for it with her dynamic cooking (OH, what a FINE cook she was; I STILL get hungry every time I think of her old fashioned hamburgers, her fried chicken, her marinated roast beef or pot roast, or her cassarole dishes! WOW! They were to DIE For! And I just succeeded in making MYSELF hungry..and have NO money for food! ARRGGGGHHHH!!!! LOL Maybe I'll go over to the Golden Corral and SNIF the air to slake my hunger! LOL)

But whatever bad things I may have thought about my mother or whatever animocities I may have had, I have learned to let go and forgive her; and you must too; or you may only end up killing yourself; and the world would be a MUCH sadder place without YOU, my friend! I pray you make peace with her memory and try to go on and live the best way you possibly can; you are in my prayers today!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn the Texas Tornado. :( >tears <

Ed, the hurt will go away and you'll hopefully remember some good times. Surely there was, even if it's only that she didn't kill you. Learn to her love unconditionally. I know it's hard to do, but bitterness is harder on the health.

Love and peace, Patty

This is sad Ed...I am sure you were deeply
hurt or you would not have written these words..
I think expressing them through you writing
will help a lot...it is difficult to keep a
relationship going when there are hard feelings..
You are only human and you can only do what your
heart tells you...No one truly knows unless they
have walked in your shoes...Only you know....and
Only you can forgive if you chose to..that is purely
your decision...loved how you wrote this even though
it is sad....floria

I agree with Katy, Ed. We must let the bad feelings go, or they can eat us alive. By penning this, you have done some healing - in your heart.

Ed.. I don't think I could be feeling this sad if there wasn't love in what you wrote.. let the bad stuff go. Grudges eat you alive.. you can't change the past, but you can make today and tomorrow wonderful. My son is nearly 30.. he says "i love you mom" AND 'none of your business' and when he says that, he's right. (smile) You own your choices, Ed.. let it go! She'll hear you. katy xox.
