Southern Discomfort…

A committee of lawyers & prosecutors are enroute,

To a small southern town in Mississippi where violence once ensued,

My personal opinion is why bring up trouble from the past, 49 years hence?

Just leave it alone; memories do fade, who can remember, like yesterday,

Sure there is still segregation, blacks & whites stay apart,

Why not work on that, as that is what set this off to start…?

Fortunately, while the KKK might still be around,

Their power in government has ceased to be found,

They may still strike fear in those that are uneducated,

But they are nothing like they were 49 odd years past…

So let us spend our hard earned tax dollars,

On something that is easier to fix, something that might educate hicks,

Sorry for the word, but it is the way it looks, from this writer’s point of view,

In the north where it all seems just so stupid to dredge up past wrongdoings…

Our government spending money on wars, helping other countries lick their sores,

We spend it on the oddest things, but what of the poor, the hungry, & their kin?

Keep the money in this country; let other countries deal with their own,

No more should we delve into our past, unless it is an education for our future…
