Peace Found in Amish Country…

Fields plowed with horsepower of one,

Rolling green hills, is it grass, wheat or none?

Roadside stores, selling home made wares,

Food galore, no diet way out there,

Homemade pretzels, lemon aid and tea,

Had some delicious stuff I did, yes me…

Scenery so grand,

Their life free of brands,

No worries, except if the corn will come,

Or will it rain too much or too little,

Own they do more than a small piece of land…

Children so free and naïve,

No fear of strangers, not good, but always close to family,

Realize I do, I couldn’t live there no matter how free,

No electric, no computer, no TV, no radio, all addictions I see,

But nonetheless addictions I have found I do need, yes speaking of me…

Candles and kerosene lamps for illumination,

Too bed before dark and up before first light,

Surely they have discovered and handed down this life so right,

Not for us all, would take a great deal to give up what we got,

But for a time, a weekend, a week, best food I have tasted,

Would be a time of self-discovery, of learning not to be wasted…

Twas one day only, over the weekend, I took a short drive,

Rufuz did come along, was as good as gold and better, he strives,

Peace found, then returned to reality, I certainly did derive…
