Forecasters, predictions & other fairy tales…

The rain it was predicted, ten inches or more, floods were to be the score,

Never did it come, I am not unhappy, just a bit flustered,

As I did make my plans, no beach walks, no use of fans,

Power they have over the population, they make us all cower expecting the worst…

Doppler radar the new thing, its ability to point out the rain,

Temperatures and cloud cover, degrees of warmth in the ocean, I still do complain,

If they cannot predict what three separate computers do say,

Then how can they tell us if the warm weather we have today will stay?

The news, an exact science, it happens they tell us all about it,

The sports as always, watched with silence, hoping our teams did win,

Consumer reporters, making money telling us what we sometimes already know,

The green grocer, we go to the store, we know what is there, and it’s been grown,

The weather on the other hand, supposedly an “almost exact” science, or so they have shown…

Am I asking too much to tell us the “exact” forecast, leaving little room for error?

So that I can for the weekend, wishing they are right, be just a bit of a preparer,

Rather than living in the fear of the rain, more criminal at times than that of a terrorist,

Coming down when we least expect it, in the middle of a party,

All running for shelter, under a tent, or a tarp, where I was serving the carp…
