The English Language (or talking to the self)

Just kinda talking to myself, come on along and read on, you might discover something of interest...or not.
(my first in the category of language)

The English Language…(or talking to the self)

So many words mean the same,

Yet spelled differently isn’t that lame,

Why not just one word to use,

Rather than the English language abuse…

Some words are verbs,

Some are known to be nouns,

Some are proper names,

Seems our language has gone to the hounds…

So many words changed for lack of use,

So many words made into slang, quite obtuse,

Ebonics I do not understand, I have no excuse,

Better to produce words that don’t confuse,

How about a new dictionary of words we find that amuse?

So what have we learned from this rant on English communication?

That the writer may have an anal desire to write to the point of aberration,

Or the point may be that he is at the point of his internal frustration,

Can’t write can he without English dictation,

Nor does he know how to continue this poem with little education,

And that for you may be cause for complete and happy celebration…

Ah Ed, the English Langague, so many have tried to master it, as you say others have tried to change it and others have tried to add to it, but eventually it all turns to one's own interpretation whether educated or not, as for your rendering I see nothing wrong with your education.
I will not mention American English, that I will leave to the experts.

I have had a lifelong love affair with words, Ed... know what a homophone is? Word play is one of my great joys in life. I even make words up, as you know. (grin) Ahhhhhhhh... ain't 'poetic license' cool? hehe... I enjoyed this read. katy xox.
