Following Paths…

Paths from the past,

Paths from the present,

Paths that I know so well,

Paths that I have been that I never will tell…

Deep into the interior of my personal jungle,

Through vines, stickers, muck and mire,

Fearful old trees overhang on my path,

Low hanging moss trying to me grasp…

Memories trying to take me into their clutches,

Fears and worries always present, touched I am by their fingers,

Overgrown are my paths, feelings, anxieties; my past does crop up,

I must eventually cut my way through this maze within…

I do see a light, is it of the sun or is it an open space within the self?

Through quicksand and water and fearful creatures of the night,

I have traveled and hiked looking for what does exist or might,

Will I eventually see some type of open field?

Or will I be forever mired in this labyrinth of paths…?

Ed, this is truly one of your best heartfelt and insightful poems, that I've read! It presents a powerful, yet sensitive quest for truth. I think that it also reflects the feelings, thoughts and questions of many a man ... and woman throughout history, and probably will throughout eternity! Bravo! Into my library this goes!

Your heart beats through every word you have shared in this write. If a path is not easy, we just wanted to learn a lot while we are here. Go figure? I really thought i asked for paradise :-) Perhaps I spoke my fears outloud and they thought those where the lessons I wanted?

Yet another very intriguing and reflective write, Ed. I'd say just by writing this, you've uncovered some light, and hopefully, you'll soon see much more.
