Long live his memory…

The pope did die,

He seemed like a nice guy,

One time he did meet I,

Gave me a blessing,

I was not catholic he knew,

But it did make me anyway sigh…

He was in Philadelphia,

Sometime back at the beginning of his papal time,

I was living on the street back then, asked him for a dime,

Hoped did I, that he never met with any street crime…

In his memory and of his blessing,

I do write here of him, yes I am positively expressing,

He seemed to be a likable guy nothing he did say was depressing,

His death does not for me mean much, we all die,

I am sure he felt as well and such,

He did live his life like all of us,

Before came the time for him to bid this world good-bye…

This is a warm and friendly tribute to a man who touched all of our lives in varying degrees. He performed his duties well and yet he always remained one with the people.
Take care,
Sherry

Ed,

Beautiful tribute to the Pope--even though you weren't Catholic, he accepted you. I saw him from a distance in 1979--I was waving like crazy, but then again, so was every one else. At least I saw him! :)

He will be missed--truly, a man of peace.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
