I live in a dream,

In a state of cream,

How can you think,

Of a place like this without the stink…

There is no such place,

In all of universal space,

Who could live in a state of disgrace,

Small enough it is as to be just a trace…

How can anyone admit to living there,

A sky choked with unbreatheable air,

Green paint where grass should be,

Concrete & cement up to the clouds,

Over its inhabitants should be shrouds…

Though I must surely exist,

But how do I subsist,

On fish that glow in the dark,

And meat that has a mercurial tinge,

Insanity the norm, reality only on the fringe,

Only attached to it all by a small & weak hinge…

Live and live well, Ed; wherever you are; although, to be honest, I think that some places are easier to live in. Love and peace to you and to Rufuz,

That hinge ...it's memories Ed...beautiful memories of that house at the beach, the seashore and boardwalk. We grow to live in the memories we daydream about to keep the clouds away. Your poem is sweet in that it has so many memories as your answer in the in between lines.
You and Rufuz have a great day.
