If Hitler & his Nazi’s had won the war,

The stars & stripes would have been replaced for sure,

If the Nazi’s were the first to develop the bomb atomic,

Would we all be of that regime by now quite sick…?

If Hitler & the Japs had split in two the earth,

Would we now experience any mirth,

The holocaust would not now be known,

On Hitler’s birthday now the blood banner would be flown…

If things were different in our present world,

Memorial day we would not herald,

Would we be able to write with impunity,

Would we live as we do, in a nation of unity…?

We live the way we do because of freedom,

We live like this due to democracy,

We must support our leaders without hypocrisy,

We do not, nor can we ever allow, autocracy…
