The wastebasket is a writer's best friend. ~Isaac Bashevis Singer

Poem Artwork

Scribbling in the night,

Straining to see in withering light,

Pen in hand, thought in mind,

Muse does of poetry find...

No fear,

To those that criticize, we sneer,

Our minds a jumble of words, never clear,

The only person that understands, a peer...

We write of our pasts,

Penning of our dreams,

Words of the present,

Others don't like it, we tell them to get bent...

You bent the ending a bit. Otherwise, I'm with you. I write, “because it is there.”

Good muse, coming from you, it hit with me, as i cannot write at all now for a long while, jus like to read others , keep up the good work, entertaining, therapy, and keeps us on the ball. Trash what doesn't sound right, i know the feeling.

I like what you say here, especially "The only person that understands, a peer...." This captures the exclusivity of poetry, whereby it is like music or perfume...it either appeals or doesn't, and we like to stand with others that smell and sound like us. It just feels right. Great little whip at the end about getting bent. Touche! ~~ Diana

I use more colorful language, Ed, but then that's just me.

You penned the truth and a good one.
