Thinking, of late, of the past, fearful of the future...

Poem Artwork

My sugar drops from lack of food,

Leaving me in a contemplative mood,

Sometimes my thoughts do lean towards the lewd,

I wish I still drank alcohol so I could get thoroughly stewed…

If I died today would you think me totally unglued?

Though in reality I live today to discover the blues,

No longer do I care to hear or read about any news,

To live alone, hiding from the world,

Nothing of myself have I done, nothing to anyone to herald…

Don’t find this writing depressing,

I find of myself herein only regressing,

Remembering a childhood filled with wonder & learning,

Wanting to travel back through time is my only, of late, yearning.

Like many have counseled you. You need to get a life. The news is bad because people want to find something more miserable than they are. Bad news sells better than good news. But if you moved out of that cubbyhole and remorse for your childhood fantasies, you would find there are lots of good people around even though they may be a little more standoffish at first in the city rather than the openness of the country. I found that strangers, in general, are very nice and helpful--the source of great new friends.

I miss the innocence and wonder that I felt as a child; so I get it, Ed. Love and peace to you,

Regis.

When I look back on my "very" un-happy youth, I cringe, wondering how I managed to live through it.

Dear Ed,

Your very write may have touched another very deeply, my friend.
Perhaps that's why you wrote it; so let's not think of the end.

For the hear and now is still with us and you indeed have survived.
Watch the movie, "Peaceful Warrior" and "at this moment" come alive.

Then dive into another world that's all around that we cannot see.
Read "This Present Darkness" and then be grateful for all eternity!

Do the above and I sincerely hope it shakes away your blues.
Life is all about choices, and you have nothing to lose.

Peace be with you always,

John Michael

When I find myself feeling down,
and becoming withdrawn,
that's when I play some blues,
like BB King, or Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sad. I believe most of us think back to our childhoods and the wonder of learning things for the first time. Firsts are always best. That's why I decided to write. I'm able to explore the creative side of my brain. Think of the future of possible firsts. There are many things left for us to explore.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
