Fighting for my very soul in deep space...

Poem Artwork

Vortex is swirling in deep stellar space,

My time ship is being sucked in at a powerful pace,

I cannot break free from its almost tidal flow,

My ship is locked into this aurorean blow…

A storm in space is much like any other,

My ship cannot traverse this stellar field,

It’s as if I am being sucked in till I smother,

Lacking is my ships outer shield…

Will I survive this veritable death grip,

We are caught in its black hole,

This storm did start as a distant radar blip,

Now I find I am fighting its hold over my very soul.

Interesting poem. Does the storm refer to your life? We are living in choppy times. We need more than a space ship to escape.

Really nice science-fictiony language comparing perils in outer space similar to those encountered by ships on the sea.

But I'm becoming more and more convinced that what we consider "conventional" spaceships and crews, not only from NASA, but from science fiction stories and movies, probably will never exist. Probably as silly as that weird series called Flash Gordon (I liked the parody, Flesh Garden, in Mad Magazine, better) shot in the 1930s of spaceships looking like toy balloons about the size of Airstream trailers, trailing sparks that were supposed to be some kind of propulsion.

I hope I live long enough to see us get out close to a black hole.

Thought-provoking, Ed. My ship is still on the grass in my front yard where my sweet alien friend (of the female gender) landed it. Lol! Love and peace,

Regis.
