The best time to write...

I don't know how to describe this one, so read it and take from it what you will...

Poem Artwork

The best time to write, I find, is the middle of the night,

Of course the writer needs good light,

And hopefully, as well, good eyesight,

Of all these, I find, for me, I might…

So, to write of ones dreams,

The kind that provoke screams,

Writing, it seems, for the most part, is in the gene’s,

No, not the kind we wear, those being blue jeans,

I am speaking of the biological genes,

They are the part I do herein mean…

Now where was I, damn I lost my thought train,

Ah well, to further expand on the subject at hand,

Without the original thought, lost as it were,

I am unable to of whatever I was discussing, expand,

So here I will leave you, if there is any argument,

Just, if you will be so kind, speak to the hand.

I also do my best writing late at night when it's quiet.

Following your advice, I spoke to my hand. Nothing happened except that my microphone on the top of my computer screen picked up what I was saying and screwed up my computer again!

Unlike you. I can't sit up in bed without help and I certainly can't write "off hand" (a cool reference in your poem) thoughts in the middle of the night. When I get a poem in my head like the other night while half sleeping, dreaming, it can be perfected with many verses beautifully rhymed. But in the morning by the time I've had breakfast and get to where I can put the poem down in electronic form (to hell with paper when I can speak it much faster with almost perfect spelling and a few wrong words thrown in). Unfortunately, as I have found out several times, writing the actual poem/story that I dreamed is much harder, filling in the spaces my wonderful dream omitted. So, it doesn't really matter whether you get up and jot it down right away or think about it a lot and then finally get it down where you can publish/post it, it really becomes two different things. Easy to lose our train of thought.

Keep pushing the buttons. You might strike the jackpot!

Ahhh . . . I've found that the best time to write is when you cannot stop your hand from picking up the pen.

Well, you leave your readers perplexed... ...and that is better than leaving them (me) with no thoughts at all. Love and peace to you, Ed,

LOL!!! At least you've managed to write an entire poem out of nothing. Great thoughts!!!

I like how you crafted your poem....

Everyone who writes have a favorite time to write down their thoughts.

AS for me I am always writing stuff down, from my wee hours dream to driving, especially on my way to work.

I am always gazing around, looking for ideas.

Oh, Ed! You left me hungry for more after those first two stanzas. Hey! The third one pretty much wound your poem up. More!!!

Love ya!

The best thing about someone speaking to the hand, is that that hand comes with a middle finger. Feel free to use it as you see fit, and write on.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
