For the love of the sail...

Poem Artwork

Poor old lady alone on the shore,

Left in place by winds of a storm,

Now she awaits her previous captain,

Hopefully her hull is not ripped open to the core…

When afloat she was a family’s jewel,

The captain & first mate thought it pretty cool,

The captain’s kids loved her better than going to school,

Sailing in and out of the harbor, more fun than going to the pool…

But now she sits aground,

Her sails torn to shreds,

Her future at sea now bleary,

Her next chance to float,

In the planning stage; now only theory.

Seems like a personal metaphor. You're still writing. That says a lot. Peace... r

So many derelict boats like this with all of the storms battering the coasts. It seems to me that you might want to claim one of these, and if the owner doesn't show, you might be able to salvage it as your own. I believe people make a living doing that.
