How do you find "solace?"

SOLACE

Funny how we adults find solace in the most simple of things

Kids nowadays find themselves lost in mystic places,

Space shipping to other sides of the galaxy,

Driving long before they are of legal age to do so,

Destroying creatures and civilizations not yet heard of,

Able to become things that as children, we, never even imagined;

But those of us that have reached a golden age, be that 50 or above or below,

Have found that reading books of others can take us to the same ends,

We have found also that writing, either journalistically or of poetry or short stories

can take us to that same end…

Forgetting all above, I can find solace in playing endless games of solitaire,

Sometimes winning can make my day and losing make me humble or pissed off  enough to start another game…

Ah, solitaire, it may not be the end all of all our problems, but it couldn’t hurt…

Haha, oh, Ed, aren't you glad at times you are older? The reason I laugh is I'm a Solitaire junkie, its gotten me through the mundaness of being a housewife too many times to count. Solace, such a soothing word, relief from thinking, feeling, hurting, wondering... If you want to really play some fantastic Solitaire, go to http://www.tournamentgames.com/tg/ , get your free credits, tell them I referred you(geminthemoon) and start out in the free tournaments! I love the No-clock Solitaire games, there is such a rush to getting the high score and winning the pot! Come on in and take a look, hope to compete against you some day!! :D

Very good Ed, I share your feelings. It seems that there are spaces, times, places and things that nourish and soothe us. Quiet times playing solitaire or other games, reading, listening to music, etc. these things/times are priceless. Loved your statements about today's kid's imaginative games.

Here I have found another poem that took me down memory lane...as a child I was an avid reader and still am...to me there is no better special effects than a good book.
Excellent write here, Ed
