Sorry to get you here to read this, and then to find out it is not very much like poetry, more of a treatise on the subject of Inconsiderateness in humanity...ED
“WORLD OF INCONSIDERATENESS” Cigarette smokers, the ultimate inconsiderateness of others! Smoking in restaurants, especially in non-smoking areas! Have you ever noticed the cigarettes spread over the ground in an area designated for smokers. Are there not receptacles for those same butts? Or do smokers have their brains in their “butts?” Trash on the sides of roads, thrown there by more inconsiderates! Butts thrown out of windows of cars. Do they not think that something so small constitutes littering? Done so blatantly, without regard for Nature. Forest fires have started with less… Plastic, glass, aluminum, butts, paper, Styrofoam, trash of all kinds, covers our beaches and has apparently washed ashore or was left by inconsiderate beach goers. Are we humans so inconsiderate that we cannot see what trash does to our beautiful shores, the animals & mammals in the ocean, and ourselves for that matter? Have you ever stepped on glass on the beach or in the ocean? It is not a pleasant experience, especially if you realize that the blood coming out of your foot, “could” attract a predator to maybe attack some other unsuspecting beach goer! Peeing, pissing, taking a leak, draining my plumbing, #1, pee-pee, etc and so forth… Men are more so blatant regards this one, on the side of the road, thinking no one can see them! GIVE ME A BREAK! Then there are those drunks that just relieve themselves on the sides or next to or in front of city dwellers homes. “TOTALLY DISGUSTING!”

I agree! I have a few friends who think nothing of littering! I tell them DOn't do it when Your with me! Or I make them pick it up, or I pick it up! Then I give it to them, about if everyone thought like them their would be garbage all over!! That it is irresponsible and they are hurting Mother Earth! And they smoke! Not in My car they don't! :)

..I live in Croatia...and as in most Europen coutries such behaviour is considered uncooth and rude..fines are high so as to discourage one in being inconsiderate...smoking is still quite difficult to curb BUT things are improving...

powerful and well stated write, ed; i can understand your frustrations; but karla is what is known as a "polite smoker"; that is, she won't throw her butts around, plus she knows that people have allergies, and she'll ask them if she can smoke before she lights up. if they say no, then she doesn't light up. i live with her, and the ONLY gripe i have about her smoking is when she leaves the wrappers lying about (I HATE those things!) or when she packs down her cigarettes; she pounds her carton on her hand or on the couch, and it drives me BATS! other than that, she is okay, and i have NO major problems with her smoking. sure, i wish at times she would quit, but it is HER life, and if she wants to smoke, it is HER choice, NOT mine. she doesn't blow smoke in my face, and she knows if it bothers me, she'll apologize or move away from me. and at times she NEEDS a ciggie, especially after a stressful day at work; smoking helps her to calm down, and she HAS cut way down. she used to smoke 3 packs a day, now a carton of cigarettes lasts her TWO weeks! so she IS doing MUCH better! as you know, i smoke--but not ALL smokers are inconsiderate. i don't throw my butts around, i will not smoke in a non-smoking facility, and will even ASK people, especially if i'm outside, if they mind if i smoke. if they do, i will not light up. i do not smoke in people's cars or homes unless they light up first, and then i will still ask if it's okay.

I live in an apartment. I placed a can outside so smokers could put their butts on in it instead of the ground. One of my neighbours was agreeing with me how lazy smokers are while she was putting out her smoke on the ground next to the can............duh!!!! Unbelievable but true. I have been a smoker.....thats why I supplied the can. Good write!
