WHAT R DREAMS…?

(a further conversation with the “id” of ed)

Do we sleep just to dream?

Or is it the other way around?

We have all heard the saying,

“To sleep, perchance to dream”, I know,

But does it work that way; is it so easy to flow?

I get some of my poems ideas,

From my sleep time,

I awake and write them down,

Then back to sleep,

Waiting till I am wide awake,

To clean them up,

To see if I can use them now,

Or keep them around,

For future rhymes.

But are our dreams,

Answers to questions not yet asked,

Or questions to answers already seen,

But not able to be quelled,

By our waking minds,

That are unable to accurately,

Record the dreams,

As the mind has many seams,

None of which are readily,

Open to all we think,

Nor are they able to see the future,

As if the future holds for us,

Any change in the minds furniture.

I wonder if I have a future in poetry,

Let alone a past or a present,

I am but only a resident,

Of my mind & brain,

Unless we have rain,

That can flush me from the place I reside,

Or is it that I don’t necessarily reside,

As I may actually hide.

To hide from the self,

Or to hide from my dreams,

Both are the same are they not, actually?

Here we go again, speaking with the “id”,

A place I thought this poem would not take me,

But it looks as though it did…

You definitely have a place to write--keep up the thoughts, whether dreamed or not, answered or questioned. b

Dreams I believe are many things. Sometimes just dreams and our way of having fun with thoughts and fantasty. Sometimes messages being recieved for us to understand. Sometimes a way of learning things that we can not learn when we are awake. Sometimes working out the things we cannot work out in our realities, therefore giving us a release from something that is not fixable on the physical plane. Enjoyed your write and this chance to play with thoughts :-) thanks.
