Snow Bound…
Driving to Pittsburgh,
On a dark & snowy night,
Had to stop on side of road,
No sight, must be snow blind.
Winds swirl the ever-blowing snow,
Drifts over car height,
Covering exhaust,
Choking engine,
No heat…
Extra blanket helpful, but,
Dressed in three layers,
Get out and walk around vehicle,
Exercise creates heat,
Radio says measurements in feet.
Wish my feet were clad,
In waterproof/insulated boots,
Might try to walk out,
Last rest area but a mile back,
Glad I ate only an hour ago,
Snowdrift in front of me sure does quickly grow.
Fearful of just sitting here, listening to radio,
Cell phone no use, nor is two way talk feature,
Weather closing in, might freeze to death,
Funny what one thinks on verge of becoming a Popsicle?
I hope Rufuz is okay at home,
And Rene’ remembers where to sprinkle my ashes,
God it’s so f***ing cold,
But better to die like this, fast and on the clock,
Than waiting till I die of an age that I am old… (ed)
I'm so glad that you survived your ordeal. Really, really.
Scott
PS: I enjoyed your wintry wonderland story.
