Jersey Devil...for Kate's myth & legends...

Don't believe in the Devil? Come to the NJ pines and see if you can stay there thru the night...

“JERSEY DEVIL”

(FOR Kate’s myth & legends)

The thirteenth child of a thirteenth child,

Born of Mrs. Leeds,

In Leeds Point, NJ,

Popped out of mom complete with tail & horns,

Jumped out the bedroom window & fled,

To the Pine Barrens, where it is said,

His screech can be heard,

Over the hustle and bustle,

Of the surrounding world…

A mere 40 miles from Atlantic City & Philadelphia,

This creature lives off the blood of the Pineys,

Those that live amongst the Barrens & woods,

Fear can be evoked, just as easily as being alone in those woods…

Four wheeling I go amongst the trees and bogs,

Seen many a weird thing, ole Rufuz and I,

But when Rufuz cringes away from the windows,

I put them up and head for the main roads,

As fast as the jeep can go,

For it is said that the Devil comes out just before nightfall,

To hunt for prey & the blood of those who don't believe…

Oh woe to those that don’t believe and are caught in the Pine Barrens at night…

You have written a great story that would have me checking out the woods in daylight and leaving long before sunset. Thank you for your addition to the challenge. Your skill as a writer is shining in this one.

I did some research on your Jersey Devil, Ed. Mrs. Leed's cute little baby was really born a long time ago! Get back in those pines and get some photos, will you?
And this one has inspired me to post yet another legend - maybe tomorrow.
