“Creature of the deep?”

Is that a creature of the deep?

Or, a shark breaking the surface?

Or could it be a periscope from a submarine?

One can never tell from the distance I stood…

The creature whipped the surface up into a froth,

Bringing forth with it, white caps on the surface,

Like that of the top of a beer,

But not as tasty I am afraid, my dear…

Could be a bit scary, could be a bit fearful,

That some sort of creature did rear its head,

And make the smooth ocean seem almost rough…

But was it a scary creature, or a shark on the prowl?

Did it have anything to do with what was below?

Or did it have something more to do with waves breaking,

On or over a sandbar, just off the beach, so near, yet so far,

Yes, that was more likely, a sandbar so fierce,

So able to break a boat in two, but old mom ocean warns us,

With the waves breaking so loudly,

On the sandbar just under the surface,

Thanks to Mom Ocean, we appreciate your warnings,

We will take heed, now and forever…
