Ambition gone
Life sucked from the veins
It all ended
When the words flew off the page
I gave it up
That part of me
The very best
The heart of me
Once so filled with life
And free
Now dead and gone
I'm history
To avoid my failure
Is to walk that line
Can't disappoint others
Or make the critics gripe
And so my pen has hit the floor
The words in my head
Flew out the open door
And here I stand
Head in my hands
And to think
All I wanted was for someone to understand!

This is one powerful piece of purple prose bled out on the den floor for all to see... pathos personified... sympathy infused in every line the reader scans as poets' plans gang oft awry and pathos pours down by the by while your persona waves goodbye... a common craze these weary days when the "eyes [we have] known all, already...that fix you in a formulated phrase... [and leave you] pinned and wriggling on the wall" ... when the eyes have it and it is not good... a pithy and pitiful (in a good way) poem, this... you've invested your speaker with a strong sense of the fallible... and like Jerry says... we can relate! Job well done.
Hah! I have fought that fight for a couple of decades trying to make my words work with people. Like you, I've caved after thirteen novels, a memoir and a hell of a lot of poetry. Neat poem if sad.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
