Trudge
I trudged along the barren road
Of grays and sorrows past
My blood had formed a path as I marched on
Thorns from all of my roses hurt me bad
A sullen reminder of when I was lost in love
But now love is a shadow drenched in rain from above
The angels from the heavens cry unto me now
They weep for my misfortune
And for a heart that has shut down
For the sign that once read "open" has rusted and blown away
For "closed" is now the only answer
As I have been left astray
My dark roots match my spirit
My damp eyes
Lashes of frozen dew
My lips a hardened appeal
As I made my case to you
But those years have long since passed
And you cast me into the unknown
It's like you never cared at all
It's like I was never your home
This desert hell, it swallows me
As I slink to the ground
I'll dry up here in this desolated ruin
And I will surely become no more
For to live alone it crushes and kills a weary soul
While you, my friend, breathe freely
I will suffocate on ashes, dust, and earth
